T-shirt wildlife conservation!<\/span><\/p><p><span>The <\/span><strong><span>Union Island gecko<\/span><\/strong><span>, otherwise known as the <\/span><strong><span>Grenadines clawed gecko<\/span><\/strong> (<span>Gonatodes daudini),<\/span> is only known to live in one 50 hectare area of forest.<\/p><p>First described scientifically in 2005, it rapidly became a victim of poaching for the pet trade and the population declined by 80% over the next decade-ish.<\/p><p>Poaching, the destruction of their habitat by collectors hunting them, and not helped by the changing global climate challenges, has resulted in these little fellows being listed on the Appendix 1 of CITES. Meaning they are critically endangered.<\/p><p>Little they are too!
