(‘Why?’ The most important question kids ask!)

Why?

Like bad flatmates we have overused and abused the other inmates and the resources – the water, electricity and the rainy day coin jar. We have the rubbish overflowing, dangerous chemicals everywhere and haven't done our bit with looking after our shared home. Tsk, tsk. Still, now we can get smart – or at least be aware of our impact on our home planet, dear Earth.

A starting point is… (drum roll please!)

What?

The circular economy. (No, not just another mash of words dreamed up by some strange, language mangling people - or those looking for another bandwagon to jump on, to overcharge you, although they will use it.)

As it says on the tin. Circular. Economy. Life cycles again. And what appeals to me, is the reduction of waste. It is made, it is used, it is remade, it is used. Ok, overly simplistic, but you do get my drift, yes?

Now children, listen to old Mama Tortoise (who is older even than the dinosaurs).

Long, long ago, in far away time and space, ways of mass producing cheap (note well, NOT inexpensive) plastic were perfected. People could now play make believe that they were so rich that they could use things (like a cup) once, then throw it away. The mountains of plastic rubbish piled up. The users did not get richer, although the makers of all this junk certainly did not suffer. But the Earth did suffer. The air we breathe, we water we need. The fellow, non consumer inhabitants of our shared planet, do suffer. And still people continue to waste. Although it is not just plastic cups left behind after music festivals now. Astonishing!

Now we come to How…. Smart ways to use sustainable, organic cotton to reduce environmental impact.

Organic cotton is a biodegradable, natural material. That means no pollution on land or in the sea with products that use no plastic whatsoever.

On our organic cotton farms, every part of the plant is used. The waste seeds are pressed into cakes which are sold for organic cow feed and vegetable oil is squeezed out for use in food products.

Products designed from the start to be sent back so they can be remade into new products, again and again - this is called a circular economy.

The journey

On an organic herbs trug, butterflies, bees and moths ... and the coexistent culinary and ecological benefits, a mini circular ecomomy ... and art.
The Baby Butterfly Buddy jigsaw has been completed by The Test Team!
