Turtle nesting increased. Good news for the turtles! <\/em><\/p><p><strong>Turtles<\/strong> are the sea grass gardeners \u2013 healthy sea grass provides habitat for numerous marine dwellers. Less turtles = less sea grass \u2192 collapse of the lower feed chain, which then effects everything else upwards. More extinctions.<\/p><p><img src=\"https:\/\/images.teemill.com\/1uy8q6igu69kylvvj51fpmxbohdohnr7ow2mf2xoeaoeggsk.jpeg.jpeg?w=1140&amp;v=2\" alt=\"1uy8q6igu69kylvvj51fpmxbohdohnr7ow2mf2xoeaoeggsk.jpeg.jpeg?w=1140&amp;v=2\" \/>There are <strong>seven species of sea turtle<\/strong>.<\/p><p style=\"text-align:center;\">The IUCN Red List has;<\/p><p style=\"text-align:center;\"><em>3 as endangered \/ critically endangered<\/em><\/p><p style=\"text-align:center;\"><em>3 as vulnerable<\/em><\/p><p style=\"text-align:center;\"><em>and insufficient data to determine the status of the 7<sup>th<\/sup>, the flatback sea turtle.<\/em><\/p><p><\/p><p>Threats to turtles <em>\u2013 <\/em><strong><em>human activity.<\/em><\/strong><\/p><p><em>Light pollution.<\/em><\/p><p><em>Victims of fishing methods.<\/em><\/p><p><em>Black market trade in turtles and their eggs.<\/em><\/p><p><em>Rubbish in the sea! Plastic can be mistaken for yummy jellyfish and kills them, and fishing nets which trap and drown the turtles.<\/em><\/p><p><em>Climate change.<\/em><\/p><p><em>Warmer sand produces female turtles.
